Snow could return to the Lawrence area this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory for Douglas County and other areas of northeast Kansas from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday.
The weather service warns that 2 to 4 inches of snow could accumulate during the storm, potentially causing hazardous road conditions.
As of Thursday afternoon, the weather service’s forecast specifically for Lawrence predicted a rainy Friday. Temperatures are expected to stay in the upper 30s during the day, with snow possible in the evening and overnight as temperatures drop to around 30 degrees.
Snow will be likely Saturday morning and into the afternoon, with temperatures expected to stay in the lower 30s. A slight chance of light freezing rain and snow Saturday evening should clear by Sunday, giving way to a cloudy day with highs in the mid-30s.
