Lawrence High junior Eden Kingery was the top area performer in the 1-meter dive at the Class 6A state swim and dive prelims on Thursday at the Capitol Federal Natatorium in Topeka.

Kingery finished with a score of 176.35 to end up in fifth place going into Friday’s semifinals.

Free State’s Savanna Dey and Monica Kimmel placed 21st and 30th, respectively, with scores of 143.20 and 123.05. Dey was one place away from returning for the semifinals.

The 6A state swimming prelims will begin at 2 p.m. Friday. The diving semifinals are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
