Kansas senior Sharon Lokedi’s final journey to the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship looked a lot like her previous two when the distance runner from Kenya captured her third consecutive league title in the 10,000 meters race on Friday.

Lokedi finished the 10K in 34:56.39, becoming just the second female to win three 10,000-meter Big 12 titles, joining Iowa State’s Lisa Koll, who won four from 2007-10.

KU’s men’s team picked up an individual league title, too, when sophomore Gleb Dudarev defended his Big 12 championship in the hammer throw. Dudarev, a Belarus native, set a new record at Baylor’s Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium with his winning heave (237 feet, 5 inches), securing his second straight league crown. 

Shaylyn Stallbaumer and Allie Twietmeyer scored medals for the KU women, as well. Stallbaumer took fifth in javelin (146-6.75), while Twietmeyer finished eighth in the event (138-9). 

K-State’s women’s team (22 points) led the team standings after one day, while Texas (26 points) got off to the best start on the men’s side.
