Behind second-place finishes from Devon Lyle and Evan Eskilson, Free State’s boys swimming team took third place at the 13-team Topeka Invitational on Tuesday at the Hummer Sports Complex.

Lyle was second in the 500 freestyle while Eskilson was runner-up in the 100 backstroke. Chad Anderson placed third in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. The Firebirds had two second-place relays.

Lawrence High finished fifth in the team standings. Stephen Johnson was second in the 100 butterfly and third in the 200 individual medley. Alex Heckman was second in the 50 freestyle and Tyler Jones was fourth in the 500 freestyle.
