Letter to the editor: Let voters decide

To the editor:

The burden of mental health in the U.S. is among the highest of all treatable disorders and is among the most common causes of disability, so I read.

When looking around, Lawrence seems to have a fair share of mental health professionals in our neighborhood. Yet, the issue of mental health treatment comes up frequently as if there is a lack of mental health treatment available.

Is this true?

Supply side economics is failing mental health treatment, senior care and other medical care issues. Let’s say no to corporate welfare and yes to mental health care and health care in general.

Does this new supply side Republican party of only 38 years not understand that humans are born needing health care that includes mental health care? Conservative politicians are getting their health care whether or not anyone else is. At times, their mental heath care seems to be missing.

If we humans had a choice, I’m sure we would have invented ourselves health-care free.

I have a solution: Let the voters decide on the 2018 ballot.

  1. Obamacare for those who can afford it and don’t mind paying.

  2. Single payer Medicare for all, for those who see value in the best care for less, no matter what.

  3. Self-financed for those able to do so, if for no other reason than to avoid hassles.

  4. The three options above should eliminate any reason for a business to provide coverage.

Now, all in America have mental health care.
