February 5, 2018, 10:18 a.m. Updated February 5, 2018, 2:39 p.m.

Lawrence police arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder overnight, after he allegedly shot into a vehicle full of people that was driving on Iowa Street.

Police were dispatched about 2:10 a.m. Monday to a report of shots being fired at a vehicle occupied by three people near the 1700 block of Iowa Street, the Lawrence Police Department said Monday morning, in a news release.

No one was injured, police said.

The incident stemmed from an altercation earlier in the night at Astro’s Billiards and Bar, 601 Kasold Drive, Sgt. Amy Rhoads said.

Rhoads said the victim who contacted police did so after driving away from the area where the shots were fired, and traveling to the area of Clinton Parkway and Kasold.

Rhoads said the suspect was taken to the police station for questioning before being taken to the jail.

A 46-year-old Lawrence man, Alfred D. Sanders, was arrested in connection with the incident and booked into jail on suspicion of three counts of attempted second-degree murder, police said in the news release.

Formal charges against Sanders did not yet appear in Douglas County District Court early Monday afternoon.

Yup, let the circus continue. Another case of a supposedly law-abiding citizen using a gun to settle an argument. Getting to be more and more like the wild west out there.

I'll be shocked if the shooter turns out to have been legally qualified to own a firearm.

They had been at Astro's. Pool halls invite those kinds of people. They were drinking DRD4 shots and got a "condition." Nothing good ever happens after midnight. It's on the west side of town, which is closer to Topeka. Shut it down! Shut it down!

Yes, there's trouble! That starts with a T and that rhymes with P and that stands for pool!

Alfred D. 'the Colonel' Sanders, is a recognizable Bon-vivant & Raconteur, most noted as a Movie Double for pool-shark Willie 'rack em' up' Mosconi and Chicken Cluck-person, Col Sanders. After an evening brushing up on his 8-ball Skill-sets, he apparently left the Club to get some sleep before competing in the following day's Ol' Tyme Quick-Draw Competition where he was also scheduled to sign autographs. With his trusty Colt 44 Wheel-gun at his side, he witnessed the subject vehicle on Iowa, the occupants throwing empty Family-sized Cluck-buckets filled with the remains of 'Original Recipe' gnawed chicken bones onto the roadway. Visibly incensed, he pulled up alongside, only wanting to scare the 'poultry-poop' out of the littering lug-nut types as he 'cleared leather'. Unfortunately, still reeling from one too many Vodka Gimlet's at the Club, he had forgotten to unload his trusty Peacemaker and "accidentally aerated" their vehicle. His response when asked what he had to say for himself after the charge, 'Reckless Vehicle Ventilation, With Malice' was read, a brief but terse, "...No harm, no fowl..." was noted.
