Free State junior Emma Stanwix drilled a two-run home run in the sixth inning and the FSHS softball team shook past Blue Valley North for a 10-5 victory on Thursday at Olathe District Activity Center in the Sunflower Festival.

The Firebirds (5-1) were tied 5-5 against BV North before exploding for five runs in the sixth. Stanwix was 2 for 4 with three RBIs while Sarah Roszak went 4 for 4 with two runs scored.

Free State will face St. Thomas Aquinas and Lansing on Saturday morning in Olathe.
