Letter to the editor: Shelter concerns

To the editor:

In January 2001, the Brook Creek Neighborhood expressed significant concerns about locating a new Salvation Army shelter facility in our area. These concerns included safety and security for the neighbors, the impact of additional construction on our flooding problems and distance from downtown and other social services for the homeless. The Salvation Army officials turned a deaf ear to our concerns. Now that we have the Burroughs Creek Trail, our concerns are still there. The article in the paper recently never mentioned our concerns, but they remain.
