Free State’s volleyball players saw their season end Saturday with a three-set loss to Manhattan in the sub-state title game at Wichita Southeast, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20.

The third-seeded Firebirds advanced to the sub-state championship with a 25-11, 25-9 victory over host Wichita Southeast (13-19). Manhattan (31-9) will play in the Class 6A state tournament next weekend.

Free State finished the season with a 26-15 record.
