In a three-overtime thriller, Free State’s girls soccer team lost, 4-3, on the road against Wichita Northwest on Tuesday in the first round of regionals.

After trailing by two goals early in the first half, the Firebirds answered with scores from Sabrea Platz, Eyerusalem Zicker and Sydni Beeley (penalty kick).

But the Grizzlies (9-7-1) scored in the final minutes of regulation before adding the golden goal in the third overtime.

Free State ends the season with a 6-10-1 record.
