Kansas City man arrested in connection with attempted robbery

A Kansas City, Kan., man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted robbery.

Eugene Davis, 32, was arrested at 12:46 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Lyon Street, according to the Douglas County Jail’s online booking logs. A single felony charge of attempted aggravated robbery was filed against him.

Davis is accused of approaching a man, holding a gun to his head and demanding money, according to a criminal complaint filed in Douglas County District Court. He either failed in committing the crime or was prevented, the document says.

The incident took place on Feb. 2, the complaint says.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office case number is listed on Davis’ criminal complaint, but because his criminal case is now active, Sgt. Kristen Dymacek declined to provide additional information on the reported attempted robbery.

Davis is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.

Davis was arrested by a Lawrence police officer, though department representatives declined to answer questions regarding his arrest.
