According to a report from college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein, former Kansas forward Dwight Coleby is headed to Western Kentucky to play out his eligibility.

Coleby, who transferred to Kansas from Mississippi before the 2014-15 season, was at KU for two seasons, sitting out the first due to transfer rules and playing a reserve role a season ago.

After graduating in May, Coleby elected to explore his options as a graduate transfer, which would allow him to find a new school — likely with a better shot at playing time — and be eligible to play immediately.

Coleby looked into several schools during the past several weeks but ultimately elected to head to Western Kentucky, in large part because the Hilltoppers will play in the Battle 4 Atlantis during the upcoming season, which will give the Nassau, Bahamas native an opportunity to play in his home country.

Coleby was injured during his transfer season and spent a good chunk of both years in Lawrence rehabbing the knee injury. That limited his playing time and may have cost him an opportunity to make a bigger impact.

Last season, the 6-foot-9 reserve forward played just 5.6 minutes per game in 24 appearances. He had a couple of notable performances — against Georgia in the CBE Classic and against Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament chief among them — but did not consistently deliver enough to be viewed as a big part of KU’s future, which inspired him to look around at other options.
