Game balls and gassers: KU vs. Ohio

Game Balls

Safety Bazie Bates knocked the ball out of receiver Jordan Reid’s hands to deny him a touchdown and save Kansas four points when Ohio kicked a field goal. He also contributed nine solo tackles and two assists.

Receiver Steven Sims made a spectacular catch inches off the ground and held onto the ball for his second touchdown of the day and fourth of the young season. He gained 114 yards on four receptions.

LaQuvionte Gonzalez returned a kick 99 yards in the second quarter for his team’s first score of the day and did a nice job of getting open as a receiver, including once when an accurate throw would have resulted in a touchdown.

Gassers

Gonzalez muffed two punts, putting the defense in terrible field position and leading to two field goals.

Marnez Ogletree was flagged for a face-mask penalty.

Long snapper John Wirtel’s errant snap on a punt led to a turnover and put the defense in a horrible spot.
