Texting and driving initiative bringing virtual reality simulator to KU

As part of a Kansas Insurance Department initiative against texting and driving, a virtual reality simulator will set up at the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd., at the University of Kansas from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, according to a release from the department.

The simulator, titled “It Can Wait,” is provided by AT&T and “allows users to experience an immersive but safe 3-D setting to see the deadly consequences of glancing at a phone while driving,” according to the release.

Kendall Schoenekase, Miss Kansas 2016, who has campaigned against texting and driving, will also be attending the event.
