Report: Haskell AD steps down

The Haskell Indian Leader reported that the school’s athletic director, Todd Davis, tendered his resignation Tuesday, after the school announced that the NAIA had suspended Haskell’s women’s cross country team from competing in next school year’s women’s cross country national championship.

The school announced Tuesday that the NAIA had notified Davis on Friday that the school had violated NAIA bylaws by failing to notify the athletic governing body that it would not be fielding a full team of five runners at the Association of Independent Institutions regional qualifier in Denver in November.

Haskell clarified on its athletic department website that the school still will field a women’s cross country team next season and can appeal the postseason ban.

The NAIA officially reprimanded Haskell in April for permitting an ineligible student to compete in men’s basketball.
