Brownback appoints two Lawrence residents to state boards
Gov. Sam Brownback appointed two Lawrence residents to state boards this week.
John Hoopes, an associate professor of archeology at Kansas University, was reappointed to the 11-member State Historic Sites Board of Review.
The board is responsible for reviewing sites and recommending them to the National Register of Historic Places and the Register of Historic Kansas Places. It also awards grants for historic preservation and rehabilitation projects. Members are appointed to three-year terms.
Lawrence resident Robert Tabor was newly named to the Statewide Independent Living Council of Kansas, or SLICK. SLICK describes itself as a “statewide catalyst for independent living” tasked with developing and monitoring a plan for independent living in Kansas.
In a news release about the appointments, Brownback said he was “grateful for the men and women willing to dedicate their time and talent to make Kansas the best state in America to raise a family and grow a business.”
