Kansas tennis upends Arkansas

? Kansas University improved to 3-0 on the women’s tennis season with a 4-1 victory over No. 36-ranked Arkansas on Friday at Billingsley Tennis Center.

Nina Khmelnitckaia and Janet Koch at No. 1 and Smith Hinton-Anastasiya Rychagova at No. 3 won in doubles to clinch the doubles point, then Rychagova (No. 1), Hinton (No. 2), Koch (No. 4) and Summer Collins (No. 5) earned singles victories for the Jayhawks.

“I am proud of the girls today for how hard they competed as a team,” Kansas coach Todd Chapman said. “It was a solid team win that will help us down the road.

“It is not easy to win at Arkansas, and to do it with such a young team is exciting. We now have to quickly turn our focus to tomorrow and beating Purdue.”

KU will face the 45th-ranked Boilermakers at 2 p.m. today, again at Billingsley.
