Topeka-based Capitol Federal Financial announced profits for its banks rose by more than 10 percent in the most recent quarter.

Capitol Federal, which operates branches in Lawrence, said income for the quarter ending Dec. 31 rose to $1.9 million or 16 cents per share, which is up from 15 cents per share during the same period a year ago.
