For the first time this season, Free State High’s boys basketball team earned a spot in the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association’s weekly rankings, debuting at No. 5 in Class 6A on Monday after winning five straight games.

Along with the Firebirds (7-1), Lawrence High’s boys basketball team (9-1) jumped to No. 3 in the rankings after earning a 69-61 victory over No. 4 Olathe East on Friday.

Bishop Seabury Academy’s boys basketball team remains at No. 6 in 2A, and Free State High’s girls basketball team (6-2) dropped to No. 8 in 6A after a loss to Leavenworth last week.
