Trial setting pushed back for Ottawa man accused of exposing himself near KU campus

The trial setting date for an Ottawa man accused of a sex crime has been moved to March.

Ryan Lawrence, 30, was arrested in December and faces one misdemeanor charge of lewd and lascivious behavior. He is accused of exposing his genitals to a woman near the Kansas University campus.

At the time of his arrest, Lawrence was already an inmate at the Douglas County Jail but had been allowed out on work release. He was serving a one-year sentence, which he received after pleading no contest to two 2015 charges of lewd and lascivious behavior.

Wednesday afternoon, Lawrence appeared in court represented by attorney Charles Whitman, who asked that the trial setting date be pushed back to allow more time with his client.

Douglas County District Judge Sally Pokorny granted the request and scheduled Lawrence’s trial setting date for 1:30 p.m. March 9.
