Lawrence man, woman sentenced for 2015 triple shooting

A Lawrence man and woman who pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a triple shooting in 2015 were sentenced on Friday.

Rachael Hampton, 21, and Robert Long, 25, were arrested in Las Vegas in March of 2015 after police said they and an accomplice, Caleb Chrisman, 22, of Grain Valley, Mo., robbed three men at gunpoint in a West 19th Terrace home on Feb. 8, 2015.

The victims — Phillip Hawley, Seth Peterson and Arthur Perez — were all shot during the incident, but survived.

Chrisman was arrested and faces charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and three counts of aggravated kidnapping.

On March 2, Long pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery and three counts of aggravated battery, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office said in a release. He was sentenced Friday to serve 415 months, nearly 35 years, in prison.

On March 4, Hampton pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated burglary, the release said. She was sentenced to serve 95 months, nearly eight years, in prison.

After their release from prison, Long and Hampton will each be required to register as a violent offender for 15 years.

Chrisman is next scheduled to appear in court at 2 p.m. on May 10. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
