Lawrence man arrested in connection with Friday morning shooting

A 19-year-old Lawrence man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a teenage boy that occurred Friday morning.

Anthony Jermaine Taylor was arrested Friday evening on suspicion of aggravated battery, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Sgt. Trent McKinley said in a release.

The shooting occurred near a home in the 2100 block of Carolina Street around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, McKinley said. Medics reported the 16-year-old victim was shot in the thigh, and he was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he was treated and later released.

Investigators spent most of the day Friday processing the crime scene, seeking arrest and search warrants, and locating the suspect, McKinley said. Investigators with the Lawrence Police Department located and arrested Taylor around 9 p.m. on Friday.

Taylor was being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $75,000 bond on Saturday.
