No one was injured in a house fire that broke out in a Kentucky Street home Tuesday, said Doug Green, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical division chief.

The fire began after 10:30 p.m. at 916 Kentucky St., Green said. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and began checking the rest of the house for hot spots.

Many residents of the three-story home, which is broken up into several apartments, watched from the street as firefighters checked the building for embers.

The cause of the fire and a damage estimate was not immediately available as of Tuesday night.

Kentucky Street reopened just before 1:15 Wednesday morning.
