Lawrence police investigating body found in SUV; no foul play suspected

Foul play is not suspected after a Lawrence man was found dead in central Lawrence on Saturday morning, police told the Journal-World on Saturday night.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. a passerby called emergency dispatchers about an unresponsive man in a vehicle. Emergency responders arrived on the scene about 10 minutes later and confirmed the man was dead.

Lawrence police set up a crime scene tarp around a vehicle in an alley behind the 900 block of Missouri Street. Lawrence police were called to the residence around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning after a passerby found a young white male unresponsive in the vehicle.

The vehicle, a white SUV, was parked in the ally east of the 900 block of Missouri Street.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Bronson Star said the man was a Lawrence resident in his 30s, but police were waiting to release any further identifying information until his family had been notified.

“It’s been turned over to detectives and their investigation is ongoing,” Star said.
