KU soccer earns academic honors
Irving, Texas ? Five Jayhawks were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the second-consecutive year to highlight a list of eight Kansas soccer players who were recognized on the conference’s academic list when it was released Tuesday.
Senior Liana Salazar earned a spot on the first team for the second time after first claiming a first-team nod in 2013. The Jayhawks also featured five juniors who were named to the academic list for the second-straight season. Tayler Estrada, Aurélie Gagnet, Hanna Kallmaier, Ashley Pankey, Kaley Smith and Morgan Williams all found their names on the All-Big 12 First Team for the second year they were eligible.
Redshirt sophomore Maddie Dobyns also earned first team academic honors for the first time.
This marks the 10th-straight season KU has put at least six student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Team.
Kansas is the No. 6 seed at the Big 12 Soccer Championship to be held in Kansas City, Missouri this week. The Jayhawks are scheduled to take on the No. 3-seeded Texas Longhorns at 8 p.m. today, inside Swope Soccer Village.
