25 years ago: Dr. Wilbur honored at LHS ceremony

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for May 26, 1990:

More than 200 seniors were honored at Lawrence High School’s annual recognition ceremony this week. Students receiving scholarships and awards were recognized, along with LHS mathematics teacher Raymond Wilbur, who was named the fifth recipient of the Allen Press Distinguished Teacher Award. “Dr. Wilbur always has a cheery disposition…. Dr. Wilbur respects his students as human beings and treats them as such,” said Wilbur’s citation, read by LHS senior Angie Kelly. Wilbur had also received the award when it was first offered in 1986. Because a teacher could not receive the honor more than once in a four-year period, Wilbur had earned it as many times as possible in the award’s five-year history.
