FSHS soccer falls in regional

? Free State High’s soccer season ended with a 2-0 Class 6A regional loss to Shawnee Mission East on Tuesday at the Shawnee Mission Athletics Complex.

“We played really well,” FSHS coach Kelly Barah said. “We played a really good opponent. It was just a bounce here or there that was the difference in the game.”

FSHS trailed 1-0 at halftime.

“I think collectively, we did really well, including everybody on the bench,” Barah said. “Everybody was clued in on the game plan.”

The Firebirds ended the season with a 6-10 record.

“I think going in, we had the label of being a really young team, and rightfully so,” Barah said, “but we were able to learn really fast, and by the end of the season, you would not be able to tell it was a young team.”
