25 years ago: Four held after armed robbery at Magic Wok

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for May 17, 1990:

Three men and a 15-year-old minor were arrested after an armed robbery Sunday night at the Magic Wok restaurant, 1700 W. 23rd. Police reported that the four suspects and possibly other men had entered the restaurant at about 9:30 p.m. and ordered employees and patrons to lie on the floor while they took cash from the business and robbed its customers. The men had been caught near Lenexa after a lengthy chase and were booked into jail about 2 a.m. on charges that included aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and auto theft. Lawrence police reported several patrons and employees had been hit and kicked by the suspects during the robbery, and one man was later treated for a stab would to one of his legs, the result of a bayonet attached to a semiautomatic or automatic rifle that one of the robbers carried. The restaurant had been serving several family groups celebrating Mother’s Day.
