Top job at KPR remains unfilled

The position of Kansas Public Radio general manager has remained open all school year, and Kansas University says hiring someone for the position is not imminent.

“At present, a search committee is being sought out, and there’s not a firm timeline,” university spokeswoman Erinn Barcomb-Peterson said this week.

Steve Kincaid, KPR’s director of engineering, is leading the station in the interim, Barcomb-Peterson said.

KPR general manager Janet Campbell, also director of the Kansas Audio-Reader Network, retired in September. Campbell had been general manager of KPR and its precursor, KANU-FM, since 1998, following a year and a half as interim general manager.

KU owns KPR’s broadcast license and operates the station as part of its outreach and service mission, according to the KPR website.

In Lawrence, KPR can be found on 91.5 FM.
