The tornado watch for Douglas County has been canceled, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

The NWS announced the tornado watch just after 6 p.m. About 5:45 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning also was issued to Douglas County. The severe thunderstorm warning expired at 7:45 p.m.

In case of rain Sunday morning ahead of Kansas University’s spring commencement ceremony, KU will make an announcement at 9 a.m. online at alert.ku.edu and through other media channels. If weather begins to clear by late morning, KU will attempt to hold a postponed ceremony at 12:30 p.m., for which graduates should assemble on Memorial Drive at noon.
