40 years ago: City, county take joint action on bridge plan

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for May 14, 1975:

Joint actions on the Massachusetts Street bridge and Clinton Parkway passed through the Lawrence City Commission this week. The Douglas County Commission approved a letter urging the state to apply for newly available federal planning funds for the parkway as well as a resolution stating Robinson Park was not necessary to the area park system. The latter action stated that about 1,700 square feet of Robinson Park would be overtaken by the bridge project and that the park was not essential to the city’s recreation areas, noting that Central Park, which was nearby, was the principal recreation site in the downtown area.
