KU track receives academic honors

Twenty-six members of Kansas University’s men’s and women’s track and field teams have been named academic All-Big 12, the league announced Tuesday.

KU’s men’s and women’s team landed 13 members apiece on the academic teams.

Nine KU men made the first team: Josh Munsch, Aaron Blevins, Jonathan Miller, Evan Landes, Ben Brownlee, Austin Hoag, Nick Maestretti, Drew Matthews and Jordan Schaller.

Eleven KU women were chosen for the first team: Hannah Dimmick, Jaimie House, Lindsay Vollmer, Hannah Richardson, Daina Levy, Dash Tsema, Malika Baker, Nashia Baker, Talia Marquez, Grace Pickell and Zainab Sanni.

Dimmick was one of eight women on the academic team with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Four KU men and two KU women were second-team selections to the academic squad: Nick Giancana, Teddy Oteba, James Wilson and Kenny Boyer for the men, and Rachael Schaffer and Jennifer Angles for the women.

The Jayhawks will compete in the Big 12 Outdoor on Friday through Sunday at Ames, Iowa.
