Style Scout: Goldie Schmiedler

Name: Goldie Schmiedler

Age: 15

Clothing details: Dress, Boomerang in Kansas City, 0; sandals, Rue 21, 5; bracelet, borrowed from mom; corsage, Owens Flower Shop, don’t know price.

Relationship status: Dating this guy (points to fellow Style Scout Kerry, her prom date.)

Hometown: Lawrence

Time in Lawrence: Since always; I was born here.

Occupation: Student at Free State High School and Arizona Trading Company employee.

Dream job: An artist — maybe a fashion designer.

What were you doing when scouted? Waiting for our burgers to be done from The Purple Carrot (at the Food Truck Festival).

Describe your style: Kind of all over the place and not really specific. Funky, preppy.

Fashion trends you love: Minimal stuff. Simple, but looks good, and these chunky shoes called Creepers.

Fashion trends you hate: Basic stuff, like when people dress like everyone else. Also, wearing athletic clothes in public when people aren’t actually exercising.

Fashion influences: A lot of people I work with and kind of my mom, too.

What are your favorite and least favorite things about Lawrence? A lot of good music comes here, and we have good food. It’s also a community of artists. Least favorite would be sometimes it’s hard to find things to do. Maybe we should get a roller rink.

Tattoos or piercings: I just have my ears pierced once.

Whom do people say you look like? (Laughs) Sometimes people say I look like Miley Cyrus because of the short hair.

What’s your spirit animal? I discovered it’s a pink parakeet from this one assignment we had in art class.

Tell us a secret: I refuse to eat pork because pigs are one of my favorite animals from reading “Charlotte’s Web.”

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? Mac DeMarco — he seems like he’s a funny guy and he’s a good musician.
