First team

Mitchell Ballock, Eudora — Despite missing six of the first seven games of the season because of a stress fracture in his foot, the highly recruited sophomore didn’t miss a beat when he returned to the court. Ballock averaged 20 points, six rebounds and three assists per game on his way to first-team All-Frontier League and all-state honors.

Quentin Blaue, Ottawa — The 6-foot-6 senior was tough to guard with his length to get to the rim and his ability to shoot from deep. Blaue averaged 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds, leading the Cyclones to the 4A-I state tournament. He was a first-team All-Frontier League selection.

Anthony Bonner, Lawrence — The 6-foot-2 senior guard dominated on a nightly basis this season, shooting 39 percent from deep and knocking down 68 percent of his shots inside of the three-point line. He was a nightmare for opposing defenders with his ability to drive to the rim and shoot off of the dribble.

Austin Downing, Eudora — Downing carried the Cardinals on offense early in the season, using his strength and speed to cause problems for defenses. The 6-foot junior averaged 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals per game to secure first-team All-Frontier League honors.

Weston Hack, Free State — The Firebirds didn’t return much experience from the previous season but were lifted to an 11-10 record by their 6-foot-3 senior guard. Hack shot 50 percent from the field and averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game, earning a second-team All-Sunflower League selection.

Logan Koch, Mill Valley — Koch missed several games because of a knee injury but returned and eventually hit the game-winning shot in the sub-state finals to send the Jaguars to the state tournament. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 13 points and four assists per game and was a first-team All-Kaw Valley League pick.

Isaac McCullough, Ottawa — The Cyclones’ 6-foot-4 sophomore led the team in nearly every statistical category, lifting OHS to an undefeated Frontier League title and fourth place at state in Class 4A-I. Despite being face-guarded all season, McCullough averaged 17.1 points and 5.2 rebounds on his way to first-team all-state honors.

Cole Silsby, Wellsville — Silsby was reliable all season for the Eagles, posting 13.5 points, 3.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. The 6-1 senior guard who uses his speed to get into the paint led WHS to a 20-6 record and fourth place at state in Class 3A.

Justin Roberts, Lawrence — A second-team all-state selection, the Lions’ junior point guard was dominant on offense all season long, averaging 17.5 points and 4.4 assists per game. Roberts, who has already recorded 1,107 points in his career, added 39 steals while shooting 48 percent from the floor.

Mikey Wycoff, Seabury — Wycoff missed seven games in the middle of the season because of an ankle injury, but that didn’t stop him from dominating when he was on the court. The 6-foot sophomore guard averaged 21 points per game with his ability to hit jump shots and drive to the hoop.
