25 years ago: Handful of Riverfront Mall stores to open in two weeks

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 25, 1990:

The new Lawrence Riverfront Plaza was now within two weeks of its opening. Individual stores at the factory outlet center had been given permission to begin opening on April 6, according to David Longhurst, manager of the plaza. Longhurst indicated that about six to 10 of the outlet stores would be ready to open at that time, including Banister Shoes, Bass Shoes, Toy Liquidators, Van Heusen Shirts, Cape Isle Knitters, Aileen’s, Welcome Home, and an intimate apparel store called L’eggs-Hanes-Bali. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the plaza was scheduled for April 12, with a grand opening slated for April 28.
