KU coach Self says Ellis won’t play against TCU

Injured Kansas University forward Perry Ellis won’t play Thursday against TCU in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals, according to pre-game comments by KU coach Bill Self.

Self told TV and radio reporters that Ellis, who missed Saturday’s loss at Oklahoma because of a sprained knee, would sit out KU’s tourney opener but KU is hopeful Ellis can play in Friday’s semifinal game if the Jayhawks advanced.

KU tips off against TCU at 1:30 p.m. at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Kansas University junior forward Perry Ellis walks through drills at the Jayhawks' shoot-around Wednesday afternoon at Sprint Center, in Kansas City, Missouri. Ellis didn't go full-speed at the session, but coach Bill Self said the injured forward, who will wear a knee brace the rest of the season, did earlier in the day at a practice in Lawrence.
