With the facilities full of furry friends, the Lawrence Humane Society, 1805 E. 19th St., will host a special event Saturday with all dog adoption fees waived from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Humane Society Executive Director Kate Meghji said potential adopters will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested individuals will go through the typical adoption process, which includes spending time with the dogs and going through animal counseling.

All dogs will be free, regardless of age, Meghji said. She said she hopes the event will bring much-needed space to the shelter so the Humane Society can help take in dogs from other shelters that are at capacity.
