Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Douglas County
The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for central and northwestern Douglas County until 10:45 p.m. Thursday.
A band of severe thunderstorms capable of producing golfball-sized hail and heavy rains is moving through Topeka toward the northeast. The system will bring wind gusts up to 50 mph, and the hail will be a threat to vehicles and some structures, the NWS said.
A flash flood watch issued for Douglas County has been upgraded to a flash flood warning. That warning expires at 2 a.m. Friday.
