Three injured in single-vehicle crash on Crossgate Drive

Three people were taken to the hospital with injuries Thursday evening after a single-vehicle crash on Crossgate Drive, police said.

Around 6 p.m., the vehicle was northbound on Crossgate Drive while approaching a curve near Crossgate Terrace, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman. As the vehicle came to the curve, the driver lost control of the vehicle and careened into the road’s east ditch, Bordman said.

Police are investigating both speed and alcohol as possible factors in the crash, Bordman added.

The driver of the car, a man, and the front passenger, a woman, were taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, Bordman said. A female passenger in the back seat was also taken to the hospital in “fair condition.”

No more information was available Thursday night.
