Kansas University softball was selected to place fifth in the Big 12 in a preseason vote of league head coaches.

KU went 34-23 last season and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006.

Oklahoma, the reigning Big 12 champ, was picked to repeat with six of seven first-place votes and 36 points in the poll. OU was followed by Baylor (one first-place vote, 30 points), Texas (27 points), Oklahoma State (19), Kansas (17), Iowa State (9) and Texas Tech (9).
