New research administrator starts job at KU Medical Center

Jamie Caldwell is the new associate vice chancellor for research administration of Kansas University Medical Center and executive director of KU Medical Center Research Institute, KU announced Wednesday.

Caldwell has worked more than 30 years in leadership roles in research administration, according to KU. Most recently he was director of the Office of Research Services for the Health Sciences at Loyola University in Chicago. He also has served various research administration roles at Loyola and at the University of Chicago.

“The KU Medical Center Research Institute’s Board of Directors and I look forward to working with Jamie during this exciting time of growth and transformation,” Richard Barohn, vice chancellor for research at KU Medical Center, said in a news release. “He is a skilled and effective communicator, and his breadth of experience makes him a perfect fit for the KU Medical Center research enterprise moving forward.”

Caldwell started Jan. 12. He replaces Paul Terranova, who retired in December.
