Comparing résumés

Kansas has only defeated Oklahoma twice over the past decade, and those wins came in Norman in 2012 and 2013. The Jayhawks hung with the Sooners for a half in last year’s matchup in Lawrence, but gave up 50 points after the break on the way to a 81-71 setback.

The Sooners lost a Big 12-worst five non-conference matchups, including three straight against Arkansas-Little Rock, Duke and Arkansas, but started off conference play with a 71-60 victory over West Virginia behind 24 points from sophomore guard Gioya Carter.

While the Jayhawks have had their recent struggles defeating the Sooners in Lawrence, they have defended their home court so far this season. All of Kansas’ nine wins have been in Allen Fieldhouse, and its only home loss came at the hands of Alabama.

Streaking

Kansas freshman point guard Lauren Aldridge’s has provided the consistency that Bonnie Henrickson was looking for in a floor general so far this season. Aldridge has not piled up the assists quite yet, but she has taken care of the ball, turning the ball over only 2.5 times per game while averaging four dimes a contest.

Aldridge has also been dialed in from long distance, knocking down eight of her last 17 three-pointers over her last four games.

Slumping

KU freshman guard Chayla Cheadle has shown spurts of potential, scoring double digits in two of the Jayhawks’ last four games, but Texas’ experienced guards were able to contain her in Kansas’ Big 12 opener.

Cheadle scored four points on 2-of-8 shooting and missed all four of her attempts from long range.

The freshman guard also turned the ball over three times while recording one assist. Cheadle has bounced back well this season after having a poor shooting night in the previous game, so she might not be slumping for long.
