Homicide defendant rejects plea offer, will stand trial March 9

Archie Lamont Robinson, 30, of Lawrence, will face trial March 9 on charges of first-degree murder during the commission of an aggravated burglary after rejecting a plea deal Friday.

Archie Lamont Robinson

Robinson is the co-defendant of Dustin D. Walker, whose trial three weeks ago resulted in a conviction of aggravated burglary. Jurors in that trial could not decide whether the Lawrence resident was guilty of felony first-degree murder.

Prosecutors allege that Robinson forcefully entered the Cedarwood Apartments duplex of Patrick Roberts, 39, of Lawrence, in an attempt to steal something from the victim just after 3 a.m. on March 8, 2014. During the commission of the crime, a gun went off and shot Roberts in the abdomen. He later died.

Robinson is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $1 million bond.
