25 years ago: Rezoning for LRM plant still under discussion

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Feb. 14, 1990:

After listening to over two hours of debate on rezoning for a proposed asphalt plant just east of Lawrence, Douglas County commissioners decided that they needed more time to come to a decision. The rezoning request for LRM Industries Inc.’s proposed plant involved the firm’s plans to build on a 49.3-acre tract south of East Hills Business Park. Mike Amyx, commission chair, had made a motion to defer consideration of the rezoning for one week, saying commissioners needed more time to weigh all the information they had received.
