One man arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase, hitting two vehicles

One man was arrested Tuesday after leading officers on a chase and hitting two vehicles with his SUV, police said.

After 11 a.m. police tried to stop a black Range Rover westbound on Sixth Street, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley. The suspect immediately fled through a red light, he said, hitting two cars and continuing south on Monterey Way before turning west onto Harvard Road.

The suspect, who is wanted on suspicion of a parole violation and other felonies, drove over a police spike strip around the intersection of Harvard Road and Justin Street, which quickly disabled the vehicle, McKinley said. He then fled on foot before officers captured him nearby and took him to the Investigations and Training Center at 4820 Bob Billings Parkway for an interview.

No injuries were reported in the traffic accident, McKinley said.

Further information on the suspect’s identification or possible charges was not immediately available Tuesday.
