Unspecified network issues caused phone outages most of the workday Tuesday for customers of WOW, Lawrence’s largest Internet provider.

Debra Schmidt, local systems manager for WOW in Lawrence, said the outages started about 9:30 a.m. and ended at about 4:30 p.m.

She said she didn’t know Tuesday evening how many customers were affected or a specific area of the city where outages occurred. She also said the cause of the network issues were unknown Tuesday evening. The outages were intermittent.

“We’re still looking into the root cause,” she said.

WOW staff will monitor the network for any recurrences through Wednesday, Schmidt said.
