After posting a 17-5 record last season, Free State High’s girls basketball team is ranked No. 4 in Class 6A in the preseason poll by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.

Lawrence High’s boys basketball team is ranked No. 8 in the poll, one season after finishing as state runner-up with a 23-2 record, and Bishop Seabury’s boys basketball team is ranked No. 4 in 2A.

Among area teams, Baldwin’s girls basketball team is ranked No. 1 in 4A-II and Mill Valley is No. 9 in 5A. On the boys’ side, Mill Valley is No. 5 in 5A, Eudora is No. 10 in 4A-I and Wellsville is No. 6 in 3A.
