Sign your dog up for the annual Pooch Plunge

A dog named Stella retrieves her tennis ball as she splashes through the water during the Pooch Plunge on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center.

Before Lawrence’s Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., closes its door for the season, four-legged guests are welcome to take a dip, the city said in a news release.

The facility’s annual Pooch Plunge will be between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sept. 8, before the pool’s water is drained for the year, the release said.

All dogs with proof of current vaccinations are welcome to take the plunge for a fee of $5 per dog. Dogs must remain under their owners’ control at all times.

Spectators may enter free of charge, the release said.

Pet owners may register their dogs at the door, but they may also pre-register online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=311142, the release said.
