40 years ago: New dock policy not expected to affect local Corps lakes

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Aug. 9, 1975:

A new U.S. Army Corps of Engineers policy limiting boat docks on Corps lakes was to have little impact on Perry or Clinton lakes, a Corps official said today. The Corps had placed a moratorium on accepting applications for private docks, floats, ski jumps, and other facilities until a “lake shore management plan” could be developed for each lake. Ed Dischner, chief of the recreation section of the Corps in Kansas City, said today the change would have no impact on Clinton as the Corps had never considered allowing private lake shore facilities there. Perry had six or eight private docks, he said, far fewer than many other Corps lakes. The private docks now in would remain, he said, but they might be eventually phased out.
