Arkansas-Pine Bluff tops KU baseball

Arkansas Pine Bluff rallied for five runs in the second inning, and Kansas University’s baseball team could not recover in a 6-5 setback Tuesday at Hoglund Ballpark.

The Golden Lions capitalized on two hit batters to open the second, and added two more bases on balls and three singles to break the game open.

Connor McKay and Dakota Smith powered the Kansas offense to bring the Jayhawks back in it, as they both had multi-hit games. McKay went 4-for-5 with a solo shot in the ninth and Smith recorded three base knocks to account for seven of KU’s nine hits.

The Jayhawks (19-26) will return to Big 12 play Friday to begin a three-game series against Baylor.
